The St Peters Armidale Cathedral Church Camp is an annual event held in Sawtell. Every year, we get away for a few days in the spring after a generally chilly winter in Armidale. Some people camp in tents, others bring caravans and the rest of us stay in cabins on-site. It’s a terrific & super-relaxed time for us to connect as a church, hear from God’s word, strengthen relationships, catch up over a cuppa, try for a swim, and just enjoy one another’s company. Nothing beats a good church camp!

The talks for the weekend will focus on the idea of Serving. The God at the centre of the universe is a serving God. In the words of our Lord Jesus Christ: ‘For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many’ (Mark 10:45). Serving Christ in our lives and in our churches is something we get to do as Christians. Yet a lot of the time service feels like a burden. We quickly lose focus and serve from mixed motivation, which can leave us feeling bitter, apathetic or burnt out. Does it have to be this way? Over the weekend we will hear what God has to say, and together explore the God who Serves, the God we Serve and the Church we Serve.
Geoff loves helping people know God better. The Son of an Anglican Minister, Geoff followed in his Father’s footsteps. After university Geoff worked as a Manager in the Medical Records Department of Newcastle Hospital, before undertaking a ministry apprenticeship at his church. With his wife Fiona, he then trained for Ministry at Moore Theological College. Geoff and Fiona moved to Wollongong to join Salt Church after graduating from Moore, and have been serving there for the last 5 years. Geoff is a drum-playing martial-arts-student and father of 3 kids (Nicola-7, Cooper-4 and Hamish-3), and he doesn’t like long romantic walks on the beach because there’s no ankle support in the sand.
At Church Camp 2018 a wonderful time was had by all. See a collection of photos below at the fun that was had.
